Title: Total Heater Failure.
Post by: Ding a Ling on 04 January 2011, 22:42:36
Hi Guy's,
Can I ask for the benifit of you opinions................'02 Estate 2*6L, heater has failed! It was OK on the journey away from home but was "Kapput" when I turned the key to return. Coolent level is correct and all fuses (that are readily available) checked out OK, Heater 'Dash' Display all looks OK and responds to button changes, also I think that I can still hear some of the Vaccum Servo's moving................
Any inspired info?

Is it just the blower that's not working? Can you manually select higher or lower speed and see the display change, or hear the fan noise change?

I've had this twice about three years apart, tried a new fan controller first time, no difference> I can't remember what brought it back to life.

Last week, similar problem, fixed by connecting "My Naff Code Reader" to interogate climate ECU, fan sprang back to life once connection established.

Double check the big green fuse top left of the fuse box under the steering wheel. If you have one use the continuity test part of a multimeter to test it :y

"My Naff Code Reader", Opel scan, Tech 2, diagnostic devices that can display error codes, interrogate and exercise systems.

If the supply fuse is intact, you may not have a hardware failure, mine just needed the ECU resetting. Are you near anyone who has Tech 2 or similar?

Leaving the battery disconnected for 24 hours did not work on mine.
