Title: New mattress? Midlands?
Post by: theolodian on 19 January 2008, 20:11:43
Any suggestions on where to get a good bed for a good price?  Need to try stuff out, so if you say online please also say where we can go to check out a lot of mattress/box spring sets in the Cov/B'ham area.

We bought a new bed last year, went around all the usual shops, found one we liked then went online and saved a small fortune :y

Yeah, that's what I've been told. Wish there was at least somewhere to go with more of a selection though. NE1 remember the Mattress King from Friends? I do miss some things about the states.  :(

Its the best money I have spent in years. We bought a king size and although the bed is bigger than the double we had I still only get a small portion of the bed to sleep on, it means she gets loads more room to elbow and kick me. Her excuse is, because im away all week she is used to the bed all to herself. If you want some good advice, buy two singles ;D

Yeah, I was thinking that might be the best choice. Risky going in there, and don't they only have futon pads?

ikea do lots of matresses and beds, just dont make the mistake i did, bought a matress on-line (4'6" double or whatever the measurement is) then went to ikea, they measure everything in mm, there doubla was 1200mm (cant remeber exact measurements but something like that) so i asked if it was standard double size, i.e 4'6", they told me yes, got the bed home, put it all together, flopped the matress on only to find a 2" gap at the bottom & a 1" gap at the side! bed is too big for matress!

My house mate done exactly the same thing, apart from he bought his matress from a shop, and he bought kingsize! (we went to ikea & bought the beds at the same time!) grr very annoying! >:(

Yeah but don't forget to tie them together there's nothing worse than the beds parting company in the final "throws of passion" :o Been there done that!! ;)

Had a fantastic deal on ebay.......new brown leather bed and a memory foam mattress, double. £480, the mattress was worth that alone.
