Car going to garage to be fixed cost £300max includes antifreeze and oil + filter and head skimmed. By the time i buy locking pins and parts i thought it was not worth all the trouble

Well folks picked up my car this afternoon £295 lighter. New head gasket fitted head skimmed oil filter and antifreeze going like a dream. As ithought head gasket had gone on No4 cylinder and making its way to No3 looks like caught it just in time :D :D :D :D

Can I ask the mileage that this has occured at?

VXL the car has 125000Mls only had car 6 mth but was told by mechanic engine was in good order. I think the head gasket blew one wild night in the snow, got a bit carried away with the power slides in a very large car park
-
LOL. They are a torquey engine (only 10nm off a 3.2 V6).
Mine is currently on 133K so i'll keep a close eye on it.

what were the signs of the head going?

Greenfingers the car dropped power a bit but there was coolant spurting from the expansion bottle
