Title: Interior Carbon Trim Panels.
Post by: P6UL K on 25 January 2011, 15:36:46
Hi all,

Its been brought to my attention (Humbucker) that Vx produced some models with the carbon fibre effect interior trim panels.

Were they installed across the range of pre/mini and post facelift?

What panels were available?

MV6 models had the sportier trim of carbon effect.Elite and CDX teneded to have the burr walnut.

Climate panel/door capings/gear shift coin tray/ash tray on Mini Facelifts, but unsure of spec on Facelifts as have never owned one.

Really posh ones had matching steering wheels but now almost a myth of the past as genuine Irmscher parts require a second mortgage now.

Facelift MV6 (Factory spec) had the Silver plastic trim (Titanium Finish, VX would have you believe) ex plod MV6's normally had the wooden finish.

So if i managed to source a complete interior carbon trim set from a mini face lift, none of it would fit a 53 plate facelift?

Failing that, it'll have to be the aluminium effect trim i suppose.

The Touring was available as pre and mini facelift.(I've got a pfl as my spare parts car.)It had an irmscher rear spoiler with integrated 3rd brake light,16" softstar alloys but no sports seats. It was below CD in spec but as previously mentioned did have carbon effect gear surround, radio surround and door trim.I hope that helps.

You can fit the above seats into your car as they are pictured inside a facelift car.

It'll have to be the aluminium effect trim as pfl and mini fl have different interior door cards, centre console and gear lever surround

Just a thought, you mention the 'Touring' is that a general model of a version of the MV6/Elite etc...?

Sorry, just trying to narrow my searches down.

The touring was a model designation from 97-99 ie late pre and early mini facelift estate and were 2.5 v6 iirc

You may still be able to get hold of carbon effect stick-on foil.

You used to see it in the 'Mods and Twockers' magazines (my name for those persons of Burberry that like to remove half a ton of interior trim from their cars, then fit one ton of stereo and bodykit, in order to make their cars go faster) if you can get hold of some of that, it will probably look as good as the original Vx stuff, which wasnt a great match for real carbon fibre.
