had the car mot'd today and while on the ramps would look to see if the coolant was leaking anywhere....found some water dripping and on further looking
found brown water marks on the starter and pink stains from what looked like anti freeze...so is there anything obvious that could be leaking...HBV been changed......

Waterpump? but not sure of its position on a v6. I'm sure others more knowledgeable will provide their opinions soon.

Usual water leak sites apply IMO. Just depends which way the leak and coolant system pressure decides to spray...
Suggest plenum, inlet and plastic wedge off to expose the v of the engine and pressurise the system to see where it leaks.

The only thing I can think of above the starter is the coolant transfer pipe or head gasket.

Not sure but I had a leak in that area and it was a core plug in the back of the head

hmm..can i be bothered with it or do i just sell it....decisions decisions...........

I to have a coolant leak. I first noticed steam coming from under the passenger side rear of the bonnet. My first thoughts were the HBV so I took scuttle off and had a good poke around. The HBV is not the culprit. It seems to be coming from somewhere under the plenum at the back. Looks like I too will be ripping the engine apart to try and find the source of the leak... I think that its the oil cooler plate. Typical signs of failure start with the coolant turning brown, and exhibiting slightly oil tinge to it. This is what mine is doing I thought it was just rusty coolant but I don't think that is the case. Complete failure results in clogged radiator, and a sludge forming in the header tank.
