Mounting this induction trumpet;

To it's base between the cylinder heads;

The reason why I ask is because when I took it off some so called 'professional' had smeared a load of bright yellow heavy duty gunk between the trumpet and the base, (now all cleaned off).
I've got a complete new gasket set from Vauxhall, but I'm wondering if it needs a touch of sealant as well, (I was thinking of using the same stuff I used for the cam covers?).
In advance, cheers :y

There should be 3 orange gaskets on the sandwich plate and no to the sealant ;)
-
The orange gaskets are quite expensive for what they are .. so some
cheapskate prat economicaly minded person has used sealant instead of buying the right parts...
:(
Makes you wonder what else has been bodged

Cheers Pete :)
I've got the three 'D' shaped, (kinda) gaskets, along with the eight rubber 'O' rings and new greenish coloured 'O' rings that fit between the throttle body and the plenum.
it just through me a little seeing a load of sealant on there when I first took it off.
To add to my woes I went to re-assemble this afternoon after your kind help the other day. All was going well untill I went to fit the new ContiTech aux belt and realised that it was 4mm narrower than the old belt and 28cm shorter :o >:(
ECP insist that they have given me their largest belt, (I enquired if I'd been given a belt for an Omega without air-con by mistake), but luckily my local VX main dealer has one is stock for just £2 more than ECP charge.
Alright, that's not so bad, but I really wanted to get the car finished tonight. Suppose I could clean my sunroof switch or drain and re-fill my PAS fluid, but not really in the mood now :(
Oh well, fingers crossed that on Monday I'm finally taxing and insuring the dam thing. I've only had it since mid October, and in that time I haven't even done 20 miles!

Using the Autobahn card I got the orange gaskets, (x3), eight of the 'O' rings that fir on top of the trumpet and two 'O' rings that fit between the plenum and the throttle body for £64 inc VAT.
And when you ask I wonder what else they have bodged? Well, the answer is, so far everything that I have looked at. Whoever owned this car before me, (I'm the third owner), IMO couldn't afford to run it. If you'll excuse my French, everything has been a rather mess. >:(

Before you refit that inlet setup, disconnect the wiring loom for the injectors at the multiway plug behind the passenger side head and re-fit it to the inlet.
When doing so MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE the connectors are fully home (a common fault as you dont need to disconnect the injectors individualy) :y

It may not be necessary to unplug the injectors individually but I find that it gives me more wriggle room to ease the lower manifold out from between the heads. :-/

Cheers for the tip Mark :y
It came out pretty easy by leaving all the injectors on the rail, so I'm hoping that it will go back on the same? If not, then I'll try your tip.
Cheers. :)
