Title: size of aux belt and how to change it
Post by: kcl on 06 February 2011, 19:33:39
What would be the correct size for auxbelt for my 2,6 MY2002? Is 2030 right?

Changing: how-to? Any peculiar things to note or is it just straight forward "loosen tensioner, off the old one, new in and tighten. How tight?

Tensioner is sprung loaded, so that will set it. On facelifts all aux belts are same size :)

............ and as your car is a drive by wire it doesn't have the complication of having to thread it through the secondary air injection pipework. 15mm spanner on the tensioner, lever it to the right and slip the belt on (easiest to put the belt on the water pump last) then let go of your spanner. Done!  :y

A five min job it is then  :y

Plan to do some service to it just to make sure, oil, all filters and coolant changed already. To do's are cam cover gaskets, spark plugs, thermostat (is stuck open) and the aux belt. And power steering fluid is very brown, will try to chage it also. HBV is not leaking, some oil is coming out, even from the sump plug although the o-ring was replaced when I changed the oil. Well, it just seems thst these will leak oil ALWAYS from some point...

Did all V6 facelifts have air-con?

I got a ContiTech belt from Euro Car Parts a while back, (after giving them my reg and model), and it was 28cm too short and 0.4cm too narrow.

IIRC the belt should be 2010mm long and width wise should fit snugly inside the pullys.

As said above, fitting is a piece of cake. Not sure if you 'need' to remove the bagpipes, but it will make the job a lot easier.

facelift was not available without A/C

I found following measures:
21,36x2020 mm
Also, one place said 2030 is also ok...

Yes, even base spec GLS. Infact all facelifts came with climate even a 2.0 GLS...
