Title: Door Strap Bush question
Post by: mathewst on 04 February 2011, 14:13:33
I have a problem with drivers door.
It doesn't want to stay open.
Am I right in thinking that the Door Strap Bush is responsible for holding the door open in certain position and changing it will cure the problem??

Nope. The bush just stops the strap rattling in the bracket on the door pillar, and making "clunking" noises.

My guess would be that you have a problem with the check strap mechanism inside the door.

One issue that can occur is that the check strap siezes up and then when the door is closed it is ripped from its' mounting inside the door.

have a look Here:

IIRC around £20. I'd to replace mine when I fitted the strengthening plates cos the remnants were in the bottom of the door.  :-? ;D

Complete strap was not that expensive, IIRC less than 50 EUR or something... No tsure, but I remember being surprized how cheap it was
