Title: 2.2 CD Cruise control set up
Post by: COLDCHILL on 17 February 2011, 21:35:23
Looking to get cruise control added to my 2002 2.2 cd auto. I have replaced the stalk but cant get it to work. Do I need to replace the brake switch? I have tried to use a Tech 2 off ebay to enable it but the thing is useless, software won't comunicate with the USB. Looking at other threads it could already be configured. Any body have any useful advice.

You may need a new brake switch... Check to see if yours is a 4 pin one ;)

If manual you also need a clutch switch.

Probably need a real Tech2 to activate it unless you're lucky enough to have one already configured :y

brake switch maybe needed if its a manual, but a real tech2 is needed to enable it. Worth updating your profile with your location, one of the Admins who has tech2 maybe near you....

Oops, miss-read. But still needs a brake switch. Real tech2 as well, cheapo crapo ebay ones won't do the job even if you could get it to communicate.

IIRC all migs from MY`01 got the 4-pin switch

All 2.2's have the 4 pin brake switch.

So its just:
fit stalk
fit clutch switch if manual
get a (real, genuine) Tech2 to enable.

For last bit - http://theboy.omegaowners.com or ask at your local dealer.

When I thought of doing this my authorised local dealer was so kind that they didn't even respond to my email about doing it.  >:(

The dealers here are equally useless, but I thought I'd put that bit in so people could see how cheap my prices are ;)

Most dealers want the car booked in for an hour to do anything like this, and thats £100-£120 in these parts.

Excellent.

Make sure it is a real, genuine Tech2 (clones can and do bugger the ECUs). Also, check he has a fully authorised (by GM) version of TIS 2000, as it cannot be done without this :y

Or WebTIS instead of TIS will also work, but his account will have to be a Dealer account to get Security Access for the authorisation.
