Title: Xenon bulbs
Post by: megaomega123 on 18 February 2011, 16:28:50
I have xenon hids. Last night the o/s bulb was not working. This morning it worked again. Do these bulbs develop faults or just fail or maybe it is a connection issue?

I've had 2 HID bulbs go in the last year (1 last week) and in my experience, they never stop working then start again. Usually when the bulbs are on the way out they go a pinkish colour for a while and then fail completely.

So more likely to be a connection issue? The battery was off it 2 weeks ago for the abs ecu replacement. Maybe the mechanic did something wrong. He did forget the anti rattle springs on the brakes and knackered my coolant level sensor, so wouldn't be surprised. Maybe he thought the headlight fluid needed topping up  ;D

aftermarket xenons sometimes give up without reason (bad quality low life electronics must be the reason obviously) ..  the electronic box cause problems other than the bulbs..

Try to resist the temptation to waggle things while they're powered.  It can hurt.

Just had a look and the bulb is very pinky so it looks like its on its way out. More important thing happening now if you see my other post >:(

Mine did that on the was back from Italy at the end of September... Never failed again until it was least convenient for the bulb to give up the ghost ::)

Oh... And best replaced in pairs :y Bobdent has just managed to arrange a very good price for Phillips replacements ;)
