Post by: hazpaker on 13 February 2011, 14:32:01
hi all,I have a intermiten fault which rears it head every now and again it is not a major problem but i would like to get it sorted out if possable, after a short run say to the local shop which is a couple of miles when i restart the car it takes a little winding over before firing up then i get a message check auto gearbox, it runs fine and drives with out any fault at all, stop the car and the restart it starts on the button and no fault is displayed, the gearbox oil level is ok, wierd or what, it is a 2000 2.2 petrol.any clues anyone,???

Best thing would be to see what the car thinks is wrong and then start from there...
You need 'Tech II' or similar to interrogate the gearbox e.c.u.

When was the gearbox oil last changed?  How many miles?

Might be the thrust washer. I would expect though that you would get some strange bangs at certain speeds and vertain gear changes.

That sound like the problems that are on my car,how much is it going to cost to rectify?  :(

all sorted out now, noticed it was mainly on wet/dampdays the fault reared its ugly head turned out to be damp getting into some wiring so the man you can told me , all seems well now and it only cost me acouple of beers.
