Sorry it's taken so long to reply, checked for codes only 12 and 31.Removed plug from D.I.S unit had 12volt ignition reference but when I checked the other 3 wires which are drivers from the E.C.U had no noid (do not suspect E.C.U as all 3 had no reference).Disconnected crank sensor plug had 560 ohms resistance across terminals 2 and 3,have no specifications on crank sensor readings or test procedures. When I reconnected crank sensor noid returned to the D.I.S. connector, plugged it back in and car fired up,annoying or what?Car has failed to start once since last post and now, same thing as above whilst checking it the fault rectified itself again.I am still leaning towards a crank sensor fault, but can't prove it without specs.I have a good mechanical and electrical knowledge of vehicles as I have been a mechanic for 37 years,I am just lacking in technical information and an uncooperative car.Any help info or advice would be greatly appreciated

The fact that the car started after disconnecting and checking points to a potential problem with the connectors or wiring. Many years working in sensor manufacture and repairing jukeboxes as a hobby has taught me that a high percentage of electrical problems are caused by poor contacts or corroded wires within a connector causing high resistance which can be intermittent and highly frustrating to diagnose. The old trick of wiggling the wires with a mulimeter checking the resitance across the contacts has saved me replacing good sensors or components which just had resistive connections.

Did check connector on both male and female side,no corrosion evident and did treat with electrical cleaner. Also made sure that pins on female side were snug, also as I said previously it doesn't help that I have no specs on crank sensor to compare to.Other problem is I am using the car with the wiper linkage off so I can gain access to the connector, not much fun on rainy days. Thanks to all those that have read and responded and I'm sure we will eventually get to the bottom of it.
