Title: Overheating problem

Hoping someone can shed some light on this. I was pushing on along yesterday when the temp light came on and the gauge jumped into the red. Pulled over , engine off and found that none of the fans were running.

I had the aircon in ECO so put it back on AUTO and and 3 fans started spinning at low speed. Engine temp came down, as I was only a few miles from home I turned round and went back.

I have checked all fuses under the bonnet and in the fusebox , all OK. The header tank is full of water and the system is pressurising normally. The pipes to the rad are hot so not a thermostat issue/ New water pump fitted by Daz ~12k miles ago.

Todays plan of action is to pull all the fuses and relays, clean the contacts and put them back to see if that fixes anything.

But the fact that all the fans were turning at low speed with Aircon on AUTO seems a bit odd I thought only one fan was supposed to turn ?

Any hints or tips welcome at this point.

Maybe fan switch top of the rad. Has had it?

there may be an air lock in the system or circulation problem..

imo keep your eye on the temp gauge to prevent further expenses..

Well I've now pulled all the fuses and cleaned the contacts, tapped and wiggled all the relays and its all working again. Some of the fuses werent seated properly so Its quite likely that they werent making contact.

I'll just have to keep an eye on it for now but I reckon its all sorted.

Thanks for the pointer on the rad switch, I will check the connections on that too.
