Firstly thanks to the members who replied to my wing mirror thread, fixed this morning.
My car has another issue thats starting to bother me. When driving between 40-50mph the car makes a rumbling sound when I lift off the gas pedal but doesnt do this when the pedal is pressed. When the cruise is enabled the noise quietens but I can just about feel it.
Any idea what this may be?

Check dif oil level? :-/
Check tyres for odd ware, esp inside edges? :-/
Guessing frankly. :(

Dont know how to check diff oil but tyres were ok last time I looked.

Take another (Good) look, only this time check for any bulges in the inner side walls and/or foreign objects embedded in the treads. I had something very similar 2 weeks ago after visiting my local recycling depot, it turned out to be one of those clamps that fasten kitchen sink tops to the worktop cutout, & the bugger was embedded deep in the inside edge of the tyre! >:(

Check Diff oil by taking out screw plug in side of diff and fill untill it overflows car as level as poss.

another geuss but it sounds like the universal joint on the drive shaft so when you give gas there'S pressure on it so no noise when there's no pressure it gets sloppy and rumbles a bit i geuss the way to check would be with a pry bar to see how much movement is in it.

I have the exact same sound on my miggy too and its both front tyres at fault... inner tread goosed to the point i have steel wires protruding out.

Thanks for the replies. I'll check the tyres tomorrow.
Wellung666 who was with me when I bought the car said something about prop bearing (or something like that). He hasn't been online for nearly a month, wonder whats happened to him.

Sounds to me like you need to get some new tyres fitted myfriend, then get your suspension bushes and steering geometry checked out. ASAP :y :y

Checked the tyres today and they look fine. No uneven tyre wear. Did forgot to check the inner sidewalls though

Sounds like Lee had already diagnosed it perhaps?

He did but can't remember what he said it was exactly. Either way it will probably be going to him for repair if he comes back soon.

Have you considered the possibility of a noisy wheel bearing(s) ?
[the 'Gas Pedal' info would suggest a noisy rear wheel bearing with torque altering the forces within the bearing casings and coasting allowing the bearing to run free and make as much noisy as it can].
Check (within safe driving conditions):-
At 40 to 50MPH, slowly and gently rock the car from side to side by steering the car from side to side, say, lane to lane on an empty Motorway or Dual Carridgeway late at night. this will LOAD 'one side then the other' and help to indicate the noisy side with the rough bearing.
Fun for all....................
