Title: newbie questions
Post by: jayrudd74 on 22 February 2011, 20:30:49
Hi there everyone,

Just got my mv6 manual back on the road after 18 months SORN and i have a few queries , any help welcome

1.How many miles do you guys/gals get out of a full tank of petrol at an average 25 mpg I believe 75litres is capacity?
2.My petrol guage and the dashboard DIS appear to be very dicky as I keep nearly running out of petrol,Where is the sensor located? Is it easy to change? Finally how much are they to replace?

Sorry for the silly questions, but with the car being of the road I  have forgot how good/bad the cars economy was.        Thanks ;)

The car will sup fuel like theres no tomorrow :) fill it up and dont let it get less than a quarter full. if youre the type who puts a fiver in every now and again, forget it and buy a diesel fiesta :y

Its in the fuel tank and is accessable from in the boot underneath the carpet, there is a silver metal circle which is kept on by 4 screws, this will get you to the tank

So do I ;) I only advised the OP to keep a quarter tank as he 'keeps nearly running out' and he is obviously not as relaxed about it as you and I ;D

I know that feeling well, but its worth it when you roll on to the forecourt on fumes, stick another fiver in and drive away safe in the knowledge that you dont have to fill up for another 14 miles :y

Just fill it & use it for a few tanks full, it's probaly the float sticking if it's not been used for 18 months.  :-/

Just as an aside got a stater from steve near heathrow. what a great guy he was going away for weekend and said he would leave starter and trust that i would put payment in letterbox. Not many people like him anymore.
