Title: drivers door pull handle
Post by: Brucie1946 on 01 March 2011, 13:16:50
I have a problem which has gotten worse over the past couple of days.  I lock the car on the fob as normal, 2 presses for deadlock, no worries.  When I come back to car give the fob a press, up come all the door pins, but the drivers only ever so slightly hasn't risen enough and the outside door handle wont unlock the door, it'll pull so far, then stop, but wont release the lock enough to undo.  Ive started from yesterday to reach in to pull the pin up a small amount to allow me to pull the handle that little bit more to undo the door.  When you pull the handle theres a metallic tapping sound where its not lifted  enough in that position.

The other week I sprayed silicon spray inside the inner door at the handle and lock mechanism with the doorcard off, and sprayed toward the striker mechanism.

Sounds to me theres a rod tapping above where the striker lock mechanism is, maybe somethings worn, ive seen on other cars the plastic grommets wear and other plastic parts start to get sloppy.  I also thought it might be the door pin plastic, so lubed that up with silicon too.  Lasted a few weeks and started again.

Any ideas to fix or put the problem right?

Cheers

Dean

Probably the lock servo wearing out :y Replace it and it should all work ok again
