Title: Bluetooth OBD2
Post by: mark.adams on 24 February 2011, 21:28:14
Has anyone managed to get these working with a facelift omega?
There is a nice android app that uses the bluetooth obd2 but i don't want to waste my money just in case...

I was looking at that app the other day.

sounded quite good.

imho the size of a bluetooth odb adaptor would mean driving round with no fuse panel on, they dont look small.

or cutting a bluetooth dongle shaped hole out of the fusebox cover  ;D ;D ;D
I am very tempted, its just what my desire HD needs

I've heard good reports of these on others cars. Would be interested to see if they work for the mega.
The app OS so cheap compared to any other option really.
And the Bluetooth modules can be cheap too.

I'm keeping my eye out. I'll buy and try ::) :P

Interesting.

Bosch do a lap top based generic dignostic system that talks to the pc via blutooth link. "Dongle" is enormous, about the size of a router, but then it has processing power in there as well.  :-/

Is it reliant on the car being OBDII? If so, with your 97 TD, you could be Donald Ducked

The only Omegas that are ODBII (or technically, as its Europe, EOBD) compliant are 2.2 (both), 2.6 and 3.2. The Y25DT probably is as well, but not seen one, as we didn't get them here

Very few European cars were compliant until it began law (2001 for petrol, 2003 for diesel), as the proprietry ways kept the dealers happy.

Right then,  i have ordered a £25 bluetooth widget from fleabay and i bought that torque app mentioned above, i'll let y'all know when it arrives and if it works.
I have to admit, it sounds promising...

Well guys, it arrived today and it works just fine, does exactly what it says on the tin.
The dial display is a nice touch when driving, shows coolant temp, revs, speed, accelerometer and a couple of other bits. Works with the Torque android app. You can clear fault codes with it too.

It sticks out a bit but if i undo the socket from the fusebox i can recess the socket so the door can be shut.
