Title: Fuel filter,
Post by: alfie on 05 March 2011, 19:00:53
Was planning on changing the petrol filter tomorrow, but reading through the guide section it shows 2 plastic clips are they supplied with the filter,or will I be able to reuse the old ones.
Any hints on how to make this job easy/painless.

The clips come with the new filter, even with the non-GM ones. Correct pliers are almost a must though  :-?

I bought one from Halfrauds, and it came with the clips. As said, you need the correct pliers to get them off. I have a pair that works if you want to borrow them

Ok, then it must be a local issue. I have bought a few various "non-branded" as well as Bosch- branded (genuine) and all have had the clips included.

I had trouble buying new clips (stealers denied they existed at first) but if you have spares you won't need then, and it you don't you will snap the old ones!  >:(

I bought my fuel filter from the main dealers. The plastic clips were not included, but as seen as they are only about 50p each, it ain't going to break the bank buying some.

As someone else has already said, if you buy them you won't need them. If you don't, then you will.

And absolutley use the correct fuel filter pliers.

Genuine GM filters do NOT come with the clips. Never have, doubt they ever will.

I reuse them, but always like to have a new set available "just in case".

Can be done with a small screwdriver, but so much easier with proper pliers. As Hampshire Cambelt Meet attendees saw.

Indeed James and you are right, as mine did not come with clips either.

However my friendly Vx dealer spare parts man got two for me from "outback" for free! :D :D :D :y :y :y :y :y

All the vx fuel filters that I've bought, have all been accidently supplied with at least 2 clips... ::)
