For pointing me in the direction of waterlogged plugs.
Was having a read on the threads in gen help and he mentioned that Mrs Jimbobs 2.2 had suffered this, burrowed down to the n/s bank and she ain't the only one.
So cheers mate another forum success.

My prefered drying tip :
Get one of those pound shop synthetic chamois leathers, cut off a 1/2 inch strip, and use a screwdriver to gently push this down around the plug, remove and squeeze dry, repeat as neccessary :y

Cheers Jimbob, did similar but with kitchen roll, masking taped to a long screwdriver to blot the worst out then blew the rest out with the airline.
Oh btw the worklights on those aldi power packs are ok for sitting on the plenum to give light in the engine bay but you need a decent torch as well.
