...Hi guys,
I need to transport a non running (but rolling) miggy about 45 miles.
Car is located in Oxford, and needs to go to Cheltenham.
Anyone know of any suitable companies that would transport it for a good price?
Seems so much safer than towing it.....

Nope 8-)

when i was trying to find a transit, the other month, i stumbled across a guy who would rent trailers here in brackley.
He would rent a car trailer, he had 2, covered, and non-covered. There were designed for racing cars, i mentioned i like Omega's
He said he has never had one on his trailer but they are big cars, he was unsure if it would go.... but he mentioned he was willing to try! :D
He also has a Nissan Navana pickup truck.... he was used to trailing sports cars so dunno if he will transport an Omega... but maybe worth a call??
PM me if ya want the details.

Agreed towing will not be safe..

It's a long drive without PAS or servo brakes - unless you give the driver a pipe to the servo he can suck on? ;D
Also you will have complications with the auto gearbox unless the prop is disconnected. :-/
It's a real shame Omegas are so heavy because it's a no brainer to chuck a kit car on a trailer (or in the back of a 7 1/2 tonner). Done it many times. You'd need something with a towing weight the wrong side of 2 tonnes to shift an Omega on a substantial trailer.
Maybe hiring a trailer plus a vehicle that'll tow it might be the most cost effective way?
I guess even an RAC job just up the road from the seller would be hard to pull off.
Hello?
<Can I help you?>
Yes, I hope you can. Both of my cylinder heads appear to have vanished :o

I've seen somewhere else some limitation for towing autos..
Possibly the handbook.. max 30-40 kms/hr and max distance 60-70 km like this..

try ebay ! search for car transportation and narrow it down to "nearest first"
theres a lot of transportation companies that place classified adverts for this osrt of thing :y

we maybe able to shift it back under its own steam... excuse the pun!!
If you need any help James / extra pair of hands just let me know! :y
I still plan to go to the Police Auction tommorow in Witney, which is near by...

I could do it for you when i'm picking up the rolling shell you have...will cost a little but not too much :)
-
its a fairly simple drive down a40 - a slow road - to your folks place. I tow pole is £23 from machine mart for spring one....
-
You could ask a local garage with a breakdown truck.......my local garage i use now and then has a breakdown truck.....and ive asked about moving cars about the country on it.......he charges £1/mile.....but he counts the 'dead' miles.....so in your case, a 45 mile trip would be about £90........if you found a local garage at that price :y which i dont think is bad for no hassle :y

Oh, I bet I may have been a lot faster down there (the Omega doesn't go fast enough ;))
My brother lives just outside Witney, and has 2 shops in the town, so I know the area well :)

James , as I understand it, the heads are on, but everything on top of that, inlet like and plenum related is off.... possibly the oil cooler pipework also
you MIGHT be able to stick enough of it together to make it work....
there's a half tank of fuel in it as well
:'(
