Hi
Well yesterday, driving along fine, parked up for 10 mins, then started driving again, then after 20 seconds loads of noise...
Looked underneath and the flexi bit is clean off from the cat body...
So... Kwik-Fit (Timax) or main dealer (Bosal?)... Whats to look out for ?... So far the quotes have all been a lot heftier than I was expecting...
The whole exhaust was replaced about 3 years ago, and the strange thing is how it went from fine with no blowing to completely disconnected... And I didnt drive over anything... Is this a common fault?
Any advice would be good
Thanks...

Timax and Bosal exhausts are both sh1te IME.
I would have a look at the rest of the exhaust and see if it's sound. If so, you can get flexible sections on EBAY that can be either clamped or welded on.
Having said that, if it's not a genuine exhaust it will probably be past its' best after 3 years. In that case I would get one from www.eternalcar.com.
About the cheapest you can find for the Omega and decent quality (better than anything Kwik Fitup would fit).

About £15 for a new flexi-joint + the cost of getting it welded as opposed to about £180 for a new cat

Ahh. Forgot the flexi is on the cat section on a 2.2. :-[
In that case, yes, get a new flexi section welded on. :y

Thanks for the info...
I was told by a Vauxhall main dealer that the original cats were made by Bosal....
Another place said they used Clarius...Another B&M...
The whole exhaust was replaced about 3 years ago by a main dealer and it has done very few miles since...maybe a thousand or 2 a year... It still looks in very good condition. (apart from the flexi joint being disconnected from the cat)...
The flexi section replacement plan is looking the best option... Has anyone actually done it?
Failing that does anyone know who makes the OEM part?

Quick update on the cat...
The cat that came off was a main dealer fit about 3 years ago and is made by Bosal... Vauxhall want over £1,000 for a new one not including fitting, but they are generous enought to give you £18 back on the old cat.!!!
£1000+ is silly so I ended up getting one from EuroCarParts for £160 all in... They're branded "React" but are made by BM, and u get a new manifold gasket too and 2 year guarantee and a type certificate...
The cats themselves are quite a bit smaller than the Bosal ones, and the whole thing literally weighs half as much as the much more solid original Bosal, but the thing fitted perfectly and didnt change the sound of the exhaust tone, or to the performance of the car...
Fitted in about half an hour and didnt even have to jack her up... 4 bolts to front manifold, one on the centre bracket, and 2 on the rear flange... Best to use a 13mm ratchet spanner and take off the heat shield on the exhaust manifold...
Its worth ringing around if u use Euro because every branch u call quotes you a different price for the same part...
