Mrs Miggy wants to do work from home, we have looked at several adverts and made several phone calls but most of them want money up front, no way is this gonna happen, no money will be sent from us for no job. A lot of them were stuffing enverlopes, delivering leflets, avon type products etc etc.. none of them really appealed to her, plus the fact i would not want her walking the areas on dark nights etc.
I have heard of companies that deal out work where people fill packets of screws, nails, bolts etc, the type of products you see in B&Q in small packets, i have tried to find out details but come to dead ends.
Do any of you guys know of, or heard of companies that do that type of home working, or is it all done overseas for peanuts then shipped in.
Any info you guys have would be helpful.

Just my idea..
no offense to anybody..
Staying in home and working comfortably seems to be a good idea at
first sight but on the long run have many health ,social and
phsycological (I admit never I can write this correct- I need to look
dictionary) side effects..
Sometimes if I'm overloaded I stay in home and work from there..And
stay with my wife.. The first few days are good but in time staying in
home and working makes depression..Its really unhealthy as you dont walk..And if you are alone its much worse..
Even if its tiring and costly, working out is much better option..
Also after some time you feel isolated..

Yes been there and tried it a couple of years ago, and most of them want money up front first, even paid up front for an internet business, laid out more money as had to set a company up, and when I got the compnaies info on products and prices through, complete waste of time. Was'nt able to research their prices and my add on cost until I had their prices, complete waste of money, time and hassle with the tax man over the previous 3 years, company is now insolvent :-/ :-/

Thats a lovely problem that most of us suffer :)

Firstly, the mindless jobs are done overseas (or in our prisons) for peanuts. Also, the pressures are immense to get the shipments ready in time. Don't for one secone think its easy.
Secondly, as many jest here, I work from home a bit - in my job, it matters little where I am. The lack of interaction with real people is an issue. More than a week, and you start to go dolaly. Daytime TV and radio are rubbish - but you need them for sanity. You cant play a good film etc, as that becomes distracting.
Some of the people at my old firm used to take the piss, and thought they were getting away with it. Its obvious if you are not working ;)

as a suggestion why not look at setting up a small ebay enterprise?
someone i worked with sells negligee, we used to take the micke out of him something rotten....
now got to the point where he is turning over 8K a month, he ha had to quit his full time job in order to concentrate on this
he originally laid out £500 and gave himself 6 months to make something of it, it is possible to do, it requires dicipline

Yes i think your are right Sir Jay, if you can source a product that folk want e-bay is potentially a good way to go :y

Funny you should say that, my sisters husband does the same with Key rings on ebay, he buys bulk then sells on ebay, he is making a fortune, never make millions, but he lives very comfortable. He has now moved into selling small torches.

I used to buy faulty adsl routers in bulk, fix 'em, mod 'em, and sell for a substaintial profit (like £60 - £70 per unit).
Obviously the market has changed, and people dont want proper dsl routers now, just cheap wireless with crappy firewall units.
Needless to say, OOF sits behind something decent ;)

There are times when I could work from home, my boss recently tried to encourage me to so with a particular case, lots of old files to read and reports to write, sounds good but I know that I would be distracted at home. As with EP you get distracted but the work MUST be done so you spend ½ the night working. :) :)

Working from home does require great discipline, but the savings in time and money can be enormous.
I run my business from home and stay at my desk in the converted loft space just as I would in an office, and can therefore avoid most distractions. I save hours of travelling time daily, have no large rentals to pay, but do have to accept higher fuel and phone bills. The trade off is well worth it.
Now that I'm semi-retired, I'm thinking of an ebay enterprise to swell the coffers a little.
