Title: MV6 seats
Post by: MikeyG12 on 12 March 2011, 12:36:13
Morning. Just treated myself to a 1999 3.0l manual MV6. Think it's the mini facelift or facelift. It came with 18" upgrade alloys and stainless steel exhaust. Had it serviced and it seems mint but maybe rocker cover leak! Mines got the cloth trim but I want the leather.Just wondered whether the seats from a 1998 S pre facelift would fit mine? Also would mine have an LSD?
Cracking forum!

Facelift has grille incorporated into bonnet. If your`s is mini facelift seats will fit. Easiest way to check for LSD without draining oil & removing backplate is to pop a driveshaft out, look through hole into diff, if you see 1 "crosspin" it`s not.....2 "crosspins" it is

Highly unlikely to have an LSD unless someone decided to fit one during their ownership. If your car is a facelift, and you fit mini facelift seats, I dont think they will have side airbags, which will give you potential insurance problems. :-/
Regarding the leak - get it fixed, otherwise it will damage plug leads dispack/ coilpacks etc. Also clean out the breathers to prevent it happening again in the near future. Use (or insist on) only genuine Vauxhall camcover gaskets (from a vauxhall dealer) or you will probably be doing the job again soon. Many pattern parts are ok to use, but not in the case of camcover gaskets.
Guides for these jobs are in the relevant section. :y

mFL have side airbags but not active head restraints.

I stand corrected. :y Wasnt absolutely sure tbh, but the same potential insurance problem still applies imo. :y

Thanks. They told me they'd replaced both rocker cover gaskets. If they did it seems non genuine parts cos I've only done 1000 miles!

Ok, so here's the update!
I should probably start by clarifying my error cos mine is the facelift and the doner MV6 is a mini facelift! The seats are in mine now and I have up and down electrics. As you said, heaters have gone!!!
This remains work in progress (by my mate) but I also have the airbag symbol on the dash but the seats do have airbags! Am I stuck with this do you think?
It's me being greedy i guess! Should of held off for a set of facelifts to come up but couldn't resist at £100!

Were the old seats removed with battery still connected. All connectors secure. Need an airbag reset tool or a Tech II

I'm not sure. My mate did it today while I sloped off to work! Definitely disconnected the battery on mine cos I had to reset the radio code, not sure about the other
car. I'll have to find out! Is it a diffucult job?

Don't think you can get the seat heaters to work if you put MFL seats into a FL, FL has variable heat settings, MFL has two settings ON or OFF!

For heaters, getting MFL heaters to work should be fairly trivial, though not quite plug and play.

Technically you should tell your insurance that you've removed the active head restraints, but doubt they'd notice unless there was a personal injury claim. Obviously, you need to be aware that you have lost this safety measure as well :)

Sorry for the delay, been at the Cheltenham races! Drank lots of beer/guiness and lost even more cash!

Many thanks for your help here, appreciate it!

Take your point on the modifications I know you have to be careful here cos insurers will sometimes do their best to make life difficult!
