Hi, the passenger heat on my 99 3.0 Elite is permanently cold. I had a look at the how to posted previously but I don't recognise any of the descriptions so I've been following the instructions in the Haynes manual. However, having removed the glove box and wiring harness tray, I'm about to remove the air duct pipe that goes to the top left air vent. I've pulled it back but still cannot see anything that resembles the cover panel. I can, however, see to vaccum type servos with black/blue rubber hoses, one of which goes to the passenger top left air vent. Can anyone shed any light?
Cheers

Sounds to me like the lever may have popped of the drive .. its right under the dash in the middle. Someone posted up some pictures and a sort of "how to" on putting the levers back on the arms .. but I can't find it right now ... I'll keep looking ...
:(

Cheers, that's really useful - I'll have a look for it too :)

If jimbob reads this .. should this be in the guides index as well ?? :) I couldn't see it indexed anywhere !!
EDIT :
Just found it .. under "internal electrics" .. perhaps it should be under "body" ???

Thanks Entwood, I'd found this too but still can't relate it to the view that I have :( Here's a picture of what I can see - I'm a bit thick so if anyone can explain where the part is I'd very very happy ;D

Those ar the air solenoids that control the vaccum that a) opens / closes the HBV b) powers the flaps that control the recirculating air.
I think your problem is the air distribution flaps have come off the spindle .. as per the link I sent .. :)
Probably wrong .. buts thats my thoughts !! :)

Thanks, I'll give it a try again tomorrow. I'll print off the how to article and go though carefully. :)

Hmm... been reading the guide again but...
"4) You'll need a torch to see properly, but you'll find the motor on the right side of the passenger footwell just above the end of the centre consol - look for a black plactic 'cap' about 1.5 inches in diameter with an electric connector joined to it on the bottom right as you look at it - This black cover can be gently prised off with a screwdriver to reveal the silver-coloured motor beneath."
Can you see the black plastic cap with the wire attached in my photo? :-?

The air solenoids are up behind the glove box aren't they? The heating actuator motors & linkage arms are low down & just above the transmission tunnel immediately behind the centre console.

but in my picture the solenoids are to the right hand side of the glove box only a few inches above the foot vent...

I think I had to do item 3 ... easing the side of the centre consol out a tad .. before looking sort of up through the gap made..... in your photo its proably behind the end of the centre consol that just shows .. the silver/grey plasticky bit

Ah! that makes sense, thanks, I'll give that a try :y

Thanks very much guys. I've been out this morning and found it. The lever seemed to be attached OK so I removed the motor completely - found it easier to remove the lower centre console to get access. I adjusted the air temerature with the motor removed, but attached and although it clicks it does not actually move, so I'll order a new one.
Cheers guys :)
