My rear electric sunblind has stopped working.
The button on the dash works and I can hear the clicking as the switch attempts to activate the blind under the parcel shelf.
I changed the entire blind mechanism with another only last year and it was a b*****d of a job.
Anyone had similar problems? Removing the C-Pillar coverings, seat backs and all goes with the extraction is a real pain!
I have tried pulling the blind up when someone presses the button but it clearly does not want to come up - and total brute force is not advisable.

No it won't, you don't want to oil or grease the runners.
Is it stuck in the down or up position?

looked at the maintenance guide -looks a bit of a bar stew*rd to sort or replace.
Mine is in the open /down position & just get a click from under the shelf as switch is operated. Also looks like the previous owner has given it too much of a pull as one of the metal stays is snapped :-/ :-/
These blinds sticking seems a common occurance on facelifts.
Will be watching this thread with interest :y :y :y

Sadly, it's stuck in the down position.
In winter - there does not appear to be a great need for it during the dark nights. That is why it remains 'down'.
Getting any oil onto the mechanism seems impossible without the major job of extraction!

I had the same problem when I first got my facelift elite, bloody thing was clicking but not moving.
Got a can of WD40 prised the plastic trim up and got the wife to operate the button on the dash whilst I sprayed the WD40.
With a bit of tugging ;), and an occasional banging along the length of the blind trim it finally worked.
It did stick on and off a few times afterwards but I kept operating it everytime I used the car for a few weeks and its not stuck since. :)
As RobG says its lack of use most of the time! HTH :y

You don't want to use something with oil or grease in because the oil/grease becomes sticky with age and makes the problem worse.
Using something with wax or PTFE in works on drawer runners and curtain rails. I used PTFE spray lube that I usually use for the chain on my mountain bike and that fixed it :y

I have the same, it's the only electric that doesn't work on my car.
Haven't bothered so far because I haven't seen much use for it, might give it a go now with the sun making an appearance.

Dont know if this is of any help? but i had the same problem. Blind was working, then randomly started making the typical clicking noise but no movement at the back though. Got frustrated and kept pushing the button repeatedly for a min or two, and bobs your uncle it popped up. it might be worth a try before trying to wedge the mechanism or greasing it.. 8-)

Clearly something is sticking to stop the blind from coming up, they do tend to be a pita when this happens. The problem with mine was not the external mechanism, it was inside the mechanism housing attached to the motor, one of the cogs had jumped off the bush, just got the clicking noise no matter what I did. Sorted this but it happened again so I bought a second hand motor from a breakers for £10 - problem sorted.
From what I saw when I had mine apart the external mechanism is not exposed to much that could cause it to stick? Lack of use however is certainly a factor. :y

Have greased all the parts I can see.
Banged the parcel shelf and top of blind when in the stuck closed position and kept pressing the button at the same time.
The blind then popped up! Went up and down a few times - thought fixed!
This morning gave it a try and it is stuck in the down position with the usual 'clicking' sound coming from the motor!

Just keep operating the blind as often as possible for a week or two. It will work, just bear with it. Mine did the same for a bit, now works fine! :y

It won't come up at all - no matter how many times I press the button.
Have tried pressing the button whilst revving the engine hard to ensure enough 'juice' is getting to it - no joy either!
