ARRRRGGGGHHH Afternoon all!
Found Oil in my coolant tank today, car has been misfiring on cylinder 1 and cylinder 4.
Massive built up of pressure in cooling system.
Indication of headgasket failing??
Even though headgasket was changed 20,000 miles ago ?

Nope, most likely your oil cooler gone, much easier job :y

Hummm on a 2.2, i'd say it is HG :'(

note to self : check profiles :-[

Yeh I never make mistakes like that ::) :-X
What was history on the HG change? Did it over-heat? Was the head skimmed?
Coolant mix of 50/50 with anti-freeze & regular changes (2 years max) is critical on 4pots.
Father T's 2.2 was dealer serviced, his HG failed at 95k.
My 2.2, DIY serviced, is still on its original HG at 153k :)

Umm last HG was done at 60,000 approx 3 years ago,
Car is constantly overheating, once pressure has been released out of the coolant system its fine.
Head has been changed at some point, only just found out that its a 2.0 head! :'(

Does not give you confidence does it :(

Must add that car run's rough on idle, misfires and gets MIL/ems light on, but when driving it runs fine,
Gearbox seems to be slipping at 5,000.....That linked to HG prob?
-
No, no confidence, given it has a pretty substantial service history and ownership.
-
Sounds HG.
Slipping autobox, depends how long its been driven like that. Catch it quickly, they can normally be sorted, otherwise, new box. Unrelated to HG

Take the sparkplugs out a few hours after it has last run, cleaning out any fluid around them first.
Then shine a little bright torch down the holes, looking for possible coolant sitting on piston crown(s).
If you see some fluid, sample it with a clean white rag on the end of a suitable stick. Smell, colour, taste for coolant.
Is the 2.0 head (itself) actually different in any way from the 2.2? :-/

No bolt holes for the coil pack, can cause issues with it working loose due to vibration.

I thought the 2.0 was belt driven timing and the 2.2 was chain driven? So how do the heads interchange?

ALL petrol omegas are Belt driven ( other vauxhall 2.2 engines were chain, like vectra)

As above, all Omega petrol engines are belt driven. Its not same 2.2 as fitted to Vectra/Astra ect...

How soon do you need the car?
If you can leave it with me for a week in may, I'll fix the head gasket for liquid payment :y
