Slacken negative clamp on battery. Switch ign ON, switch OFF, get to battery & remove clamp/connector

You've got 15 secs from turning the ignition off to disconnecting the battery. :y :y :y

Thanks 4 that mate, :ybut sorry 4 being a pain, :-[im assuming the factory alarm buried under the wind screen does not have battery back up.unlike the Cobra on me van,any attempt to do anything 2 the wiring will result in a trip. :y :y

If you disconnect the battery without following the procedure the powersounder will go off.
The procedure is able to check that you have the key for the car because it (the powersounder) is linked to the factory immobiliser & alarm. I'm guessing that your Cobra system doesn't have that luxury.

and when that battery fails it wont involve a trip...but it will involve a visit..from the local fire brigade :'(
