Title: Stalling engine
Post by: Mr Gav on 22 April 2011, 11:39:06
My MV6 has developed an annoying problem, after hard acceleration and then while braking approaching a junction or roundabout the engine stalls. It will start straight away again and idle ok but it`s a bit strange.
It` also has a habit of stalling while parking too, usually when reversing, maybe these two things are connected.
I`m gonna give the ICV a good clean today but I don`t think that this is the problem.

I reckon you are starting at the right place, as it only happens at idle :y

Any codes stored?

No codes stored but it`s not only at idle, as soon as I start braking hard from hard acceleration the engine dies even if it`s still doing 2-3000 rpm, although at that point I`m off the throttle. While I`m doing the ICV I`ll look at the throttle butterflies too.

Check for stored codes mate  :y

Could be a dodgy crank sensor or a MAF issue.

To eliminate the latter try running the car with the MAF disconnected - if problem goes away its your MAF. ;)
