Title: 2.5 TD Fuel Pump (in tank jobby)
Post by: Psychoca on 03 May 2011, 18:10:45
The fuel pump is dead and I was wondering if I can get away with a manual pump under the bonnet (between Fuel Filter and FIP)..  I seem to remember that it has been done, just can't find the page...

you need a peugeot hdi straight ended primer bulbpump,
last one i bought was around 17quid i think, cut main fuel line in after filter insert pump the correct way round squeeze bulb till you have lines full of fuel and start, this has a non return valve in it so it can never run back to the tank so you always have fuel n the filter and lines enabling you to start then the injection pump sucks it up no problem, last one i fitted did 3 years of sterling service without a problem,

BUT!!

it wont cure the less than 20 litre syndrome although it does help and allows you to go  little lower,
personally i would fix the pump as soon as you can, the bulb pump can be left in the system as it wont affect the electric pump performance in any way  :y
