Title: 2.2DTi EGR Valve
Post by: VXL V6 on 03 May 2011, 19:21:55
Can you clean the EGR valve if it occasionally sticks and just how brutal can you be in cleaning it?

Failing that, there appear to be two versions, one with a black plastic cap and one without, is there a difference?

Links for reference - can be bought for much less!

They can be cleaned with oven cleaner so its a pink job. Work it well with an old toothbrush until super shiney and clean.

I thought the plastic version only fitted the 2.0DTi.

You could be right about the plastic topped version, the estate has a plastic top version on it so what effect would having an EGR for a 2.0 fitted on a 2.2?

I did it on the 2.2dti estate and the manifold and used carb cleaner. If your going to do the manifold get the two gaskets first only penny's iirc, the manifold was full of it(carbon build up) in the end it was a vac pipe come off under air filter. :y
