Cause for concern? what do you guys experience on this subject?
Back of my driveway is a reasonable slope, today i had my car stoped on it and decided to move it forward.
When i started ignition and moved in -to "drive" the car rolled back. Stopping/restarting and reengaging continued to see the car roll back in drive UNTILL i depressed accelerator.
I was under the impression that in drive on a slope the car would creep forward or at least be stationary.
is this normal ? :-/
ps putting it into park with out handbrae on saw it sit without rolling, And putting it in drive on the straight sees it slip forward as you would expect....

First thing to check is gear box oil level. I had an auto that used to do this because the box had a slight leak

On a steep slope, it may have tendency to roll back...
In P, there is obviously a mechanical lock, so won't budge...

i think i am just being paranoid :-/ gonna check with the wifes auto volvo renault thingy tomorrow and even the megrane and compare the autos, in fact ive just realised....of the 5 cars in my driveway there all autos!!!

Yep any auto when in drive will roll backwards if the slope is steep enough

not quite true. depends on whether the car is facing up the slope, down the slope or even across the slope! in fact, maybe the car is on its roof, or on stands. Nobody mentioned whether chock had been used either.
or am I just being silly?

dont worry too much rolling backward on a reasonably steep slope in an auto is quite normal
