Title: orange engine light has come on ?
Post by: moneyspider on 06 May 2011, 22:30:00
Hi, today at the supermarket, started the car, but the first few seconds of it firing up, was quite a rough idle, and I noticed the orange engine light had stayed on, and is still on, any ideas what has caused this, or is it another trip to a Vaux dealer?  >:(
Thanks, Mel.

Hi Mel, & welcome to the Oof mate :y
I would suggest you check your spark plugs for water or oil fouling first of all. Don't worry too much about the Engine Management Light being on just yet, no need to dash off to the Stealers & throw good money away  ;) Also check that the electrical multiplug to the DIS Pack is securely pushed fully home (at the rear of the engine, directly behind the black Ecotech strip on the cam cover). Next thing is to buy yourself a cheap codereader off ebay that can read & clear codes  :y

Thank you, will have a look tomorrow at connections, etc, and I was considering buying  a code reader on Ebay, its the Maxscan G500 I think, hope this will be OK for the car. its 40 quid+ every time, for a garage to do the reading. Thanks again, Mel.

If you have a laptop with USB port go for an "My Naff Code Reader" as it does a lot more than just read codes :y
