Its likely version 0A is the latest for your 2.2

As a first port of call, I'd check the ATF levels.

Hi there, I recently bought my first Omega B, an MV6 ('99 mini face-lift)on which the transmission changes are perfect 'round the houses'. However I took in on a decent run on fastish A roads & what happens is, it makes unnecessary changes up & down between 3/4 & 4/3 at about 48/50 mph. (Sort of 'hunts')

Looking on the forum I'd assume this is due to the fact that I have the early version of the ECU's sofware, so how do I go about getting it flash upgraded to the later version (V9). I'm in S.E London/Kent. (Orpington).  :)

Suspect yours is on V5, you'll have a GS820 TCM, V9 is the latest for your combo.

Either http://theboy.omegaowners.com or a dealer.

Thanks for that, I took it to W.J.King (Main Vauxhall Dealers) today & like you said, they confirmed it was running V5, and they've now updated the software to V9, they charged £39 + vat which seemed reasonable.

Took it for a long test drive......it's like driving a different car...superb! Thanks for your advice.

Sounds very reasonable! I think I may contact my local stealer and enquire about my 02 plate 2.6 Elite.....Evans Halshaw in York or do I go to Walkers in Selby? Can anyone make a recommendation?
EH quoted me £500 ish to replace an aircon pipe when it was only the schraeder valve which needed changing, plus they don't accept the OOF trade card, Walkers, on the other hand do accept the card and come across as very 'user friendly'.  :-/ :-/

02 2.6 will have an GS821 ECU, latest firmware for GS821 coupled to a V6 is v8

Latest...

ive had the filter and gaskets replaced, cost me £110, didnt look or smell that bad really, any way, it runs and changes gear more smoothly but still has not cured the sticking 1st gear problem. will it ease as the fresh fluid gets used or is there another reason? baffled!  :-[ >:(

Is this from cold? Or all the time?     Not sure if the 2.2 revs higher to warm the cat(s) from cold like the v engines do? Snow mode or sports mode breaks the cycle...?  :-/

more so when warm. or if creeping in traffic then setting off, very intermittent.  :-/

Sheffield here as well  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

I'm another one with the long 1st gear problem. Changing the gearbox oil and filter did little to cure the problem. Added to which when I went to start her this morning my TC light was on and I had little or no drive in 'D'.

IIRC when I changed the autobox oil and filter about 5000 miles ago, I noticed a slight weeping from the bellhousing / torque converter area, so I'm guessing it is running low on fluid. About to go out and check, so will report back with my findings.

Just as I suspected, the box was low on fluid. Had to put about 1 1/4 litres in it.

Much better now with a smoother shift between 1st & 2nd, but still suffering the long first gear.

hi, from a sheffielder lol. i had my filter and ATF changed, made no differance, the old filter and oil didnt look that old, maybe previous owner tried this before delling it to me.
its intermittent, some days rarely have the problem, others its quite regular. doin my head in now. running in sports mode to solve it.  :'(

I'd like to know more about this, a my 2.2 auto, sticks on 2nd gear when warm sometimes. I'd expect it to do it when cold, to warm up all the fluids etc, but when warm!??

Mine stick's 2/3.
