Title: Any warning with cambelts?
Post by: Osaze on 23 May 2011, 15:10:19
My last cambelt + tensioners change was at 72,000 miles around spring 2006.  I'm on 102,000 miles at the moment.  Being proper about it I guess I should get it done but I'm trying to conserve £s these days...
Am I ok for a little while?

Not quite due on mileage but a year overdue on time. I'd get it done, TBH.

There's rarely any warning when it's about to fail and it becomes a much larger bill to repair the car once it has.

Not too onerous a job on a 4 pot either.

EDIT: But make sure the cam belt, tensioners and water pump are changed.

no warning.

apart, maybe from the 1/10 of a rev between the belt breaking and the valves touching :P
