Drove my 3.2 V6 to Croydon and back last weekend -

60mph on A40, 75mph/80mph on M40/M25.

Total distance just under 300 miles, returning 32.6mpg.

That's with 2 of us, big tool kit, 3 tonne trolley jack, stands.... 90l LPG tank...

Heartfelt condolences  :'(

Back on topic, my old 2.0 Carlton did best mpg at 60, but sat very happily at 70 to 80 all day.  The current 2.6 does best mpg at 70 ish and I try not to break the limit by too much.   ;)

So I guess the 2.2 wil also be in that ball park.

Yes agree with Osprey.  70ish seems the best for fuel ranges /cruising

When compared with wholly urban driving, even speeds much higher than the national speed limit will prove to be more economical.....
I reckon 70-80 mph is probably optimal, but as I've said, even at faster speeds than that, it'll be more economical than town driving.

Unlike at 130+....fuel fly's away at around 10mpg on the autobahns...so I'm told .     ;)

10 mpg at 130+ is not all that bad, really  - I've got a mate who has an RS4 that when driven enthusiastically returns around 7 mpg..... :D

I'm led to believe that after a day out of urban and motorway driving, my mig returned 28.3mpg....
Not bad considering the right pedal was used harshly and pushed to 90+mph most of the time!

Not bad for a 3.0 auto loaded

So I was told, lol ;D ;D ;D
