Title: Web Page Improvements
Post by: Pride and Joy on 15 January 2008, 09:41:38
Hi Guys
Great new layout - congrats it looks great and works well. I have 2 little niddles and I hope you will take then on board!
1) When going through the postings I find that after returning to the main page I loose track of where I am. Can it be possible that the subject remains highlighted on return so you can immediately see where you got to on the main page.
2) The page numbers - can they be a bit bigger and more accentuated when accessed. I'm getting on in years and eye sight not as it was and I'm having difficulty seeing which page number is selected.

Many thanks - hope you find my suggestions acceptable.

Great site keep up the good work

Peter

Suggestions welcome :)

Not sure we can do anything about the 1st point though, but I'll have a little think :(

2nd point, possibly.  Though first, can I suggest you try the other page numbering technique (click the little box just to left of page numbers on a multipage thread to see what I mean)

Brilliant - that solves that problem - didn't know about that either. That's great. Only the getting lost when going back to the original page - hope you can sort that one! :y

Many thanks

Had another look over code, can't see a way to do it.  Other than getting user to press backspace...

:-? tried that - same as pressing the back arrow to return to the main page. Don't know how it is done - but on some sites the original item that is clicked stays either highlighted or in bold when you return to that page. Sorry I'm not into the technical side of code etc. But just thought it would make life a little easier

Mant thanks for trying

Some sites maintain a session state of what a user is doing, but we don't

If you use the "board" button, bottom left, it takes you back to the current thread page with a refresh, so it shows read and unread topics, I use this to keep track of where I am.

If I'm on a multiple page I start at the OLDEST unread item and then use the "previous topic" button, bottom right...

Works for me might not suit you ....  :)
