They look very clean, almost as clean as the new parts I have waiting to fit but to me these parts look as if they have been fitted recently before I got the car. I have no history whatsoever on this car but would value your opinions about these parts as to whether to leave them on or just go ahead on replace? Have put the locking kit on and everything lines up perfectly. Even the tensioner pulleys dont appear to have very polished surfaces where the back of the belt contacts them. Have left it for the night to watch the TT and to contemplate what to do with the aid of beer lol! All input appreciated!

if it was me i would change it as you have no record of when it was last changed.
got to be cheaper than replacing the engine. :y
-
my personal opinion woukd be if you have new there fit them. . . Is it worth taking the chance?
-
better safe than sorry. : ;)

Thanks guys for your input esp Darth as I know you are one of the top cam belt men on here, was going with that plan anyway, was just wondering if you had come acrooss this youself before with the amount of belts you have done. as stated before, I have no history on this car and know it had sat unused for over six months and we know what happens to cars that sit idle for any amount of time lol
-
Mine looked as good as new when I changed them a couple of weeks a go. I know for a fact that they (the belt and tensioners) had been on the car for 4 years and 40,500 miles. ;)

Thanks Albs! That was the kind of thing I was wanting to hear, so I know what I'm doing tomorrow lol! Knew I couldnt be that lucky lol! ...... Aye!Doomed... we're doomed! lol

Looks like grease loss has started on the idler - I understand that's the way they fail.
-
I noticed that too Osprey on the right hand idler. Have now stripped all parts off and got new parts on, having a cuppa noo before I set it all up. Thanks to you all for your help

They're under a cover remember, so they will never look like, say, the alternator in the pic. Any I've changed have looked the same as yours.
-
Thats what I was thinking Liam, too good to be true lol
-
Job done! And no skinned knuckles lol! Time for a celebratory beer! Thanks to everyone for their input!
-
Well done - at least you needn't worry about it now.
And probably done better than a garage too!
:y
-
Thanks, Osprey, but you dont know me lol, if its wasnt for bad luck.... lpl! I'll worry about it more now lol cos I was involved, I'm bound to have done something wrong lol! It does sound better though, so I must have done something right, well so far at least lol

Last job before putting the cover back on should have been to check (again) that all the bolts were torqued to the correct settings. Forget to do one and..................... ;)

Everything was triple checked before closing up again Albs, just in case lol I even turned the engine through 8 revolutions to check the alignment, just to be sure, just in case lol
