My first MV6 gradually developed vague steering, with a strong tendency to tramline. It all got gradually worse. Several local garages tried to find the cause without success.
Now my newer one is starting to do the same. Any ideas??

Could be steering idler, wishbone bushes or wear anywhere in the steering linkage. Having said that, tramlining may point towards tyres. They seem to be a bit sensitive to certain types of tyre. A visit to wheels in motion (or one of its franchises) would probably greatly improve matters, as they seem to be about the only people who know how to set up the 4 wheel geometry properly on Omegas.
Im sure Chrisgixer will be along soon to give detailed advice on tyres, bushes etc. - he has OCD in that area. ;)

More than likely wear in the steering/suspension components, mine was becoming very wayward until I went to a wim franchise and the wishbones were totally wasted, resulting in a hefty bill to replace them there, would have been far cheaper to do them myself along with track rods before going. Different car now though!

As above, plus, what tyres? .... And are they used on both cars, towards the end of their life/beyond half worn?

Tbh Chris, WIM are still to get their hands on it, but it is on the agenda for this year (along with alloy refurb and maybe a full respray ;)). It is driving beautifully, tho - its also much quieter. Really loving it at the mo.....any excuse to drive it! :)

I have got the same problem and took my car to ATS, and was told the Steering Idler was at fault which I believe is true as the last MOT had an advisory on the Idler, My friend is replacing it tomorrow for me, so fingers crossed it will solve the fault.
