The Mig passed it's M.O.T this morning with only 1 piece of advisory 8-) 8-)
I've got "Slight movement in steering idler bushes"
What's concerning me slightly is that the guy said the one that's on there is not the original one.
Does this mean whoever fitted it has not done a very good job or is it quite common for these thing's to wear out?

Can I ask you to clarify something for me please mate?
The advisory does'nt mention the arm...just says the bushes.
Is it a gimmie that the arm is whats causing the play in the bushes then?
I don't really know whats what with these things so sorry if it's a stupid question :-/

its a throwaway part,new arm equals new bushes :y

It's the bushes that wear, not the actual arms.

I do enjoy learning new things about cars :y :y
I'm still wondering why the bushes have play in them if the arm has already been replaced :-/
Poor part or poor workmanship?.....I guess i won't know untill I get it taken off.
Does'nt look like an expensive job though so that a bonus :y :y :y

The tester did say that it's common for them but I forgot to ask if he meant the arms in general or the arms on Omega's.

Mine was the cause of an MoT failure too. I bought the arm to do it myself but in the end paid a mechanic a score to do it for me. It took longer for me to smoke the fag waiting for him then it took him to do the job! But that was on the ramp with him standing up underneath the car - I can't imagine it's that quick reaching in through the wheelarch and working at arm's length! (That's the precise reason I reckoned it was twenty quid well spent!)
Knocking noise over speed-humps has gone now!

A friend of mine is changing mine tomorrow is exchange for an hours babysitting lol and I am hoping that this will end the tram lining issue!
