Title: De-catting an omega 2.5 bmw engine 1994
Post by: minilandrover on 17 June 2011, 17:53:22
Hi, as i have a spare exhaust, i decided to open up the catayliser and remove the core (intact for recycling) as over here the law only requires one after 1996 on a diesel. Its re welded and ready for installing (after i fix the injector pump) im told it will improve performance and economy. will i see or hear any benefits from this or will it require remapping as well. i have a spare ecu  ::)
( not sure if they are interchangeable or linked to the remote key?) :( but i might take this to the uk for re mapping if there is a gain. thanks all. colin  :y

I don't believe a remap is necessary but is a good option on diesels anyway if you want a good increase in power/torque. By decatting your exhaust it should allow the turbo to spool up quicker and rev more freely  :y
