Hi everyone im new but the proud new owner of an omega Y reg 2.2 auto estate but im recently hving an issue i hope someone migth be able to help.
I just wanted to run my cars little escapads past you
Had plugs, MAF, Coil pack,Eng temp sensor replaced at this point.
Omega 2.2 16v 100,000 miles full history
the car starts and does drive. it seams to go fine until approx 5 mins into the normal heat range is reached
the fault codes have been read on three separate occasions. First time diagnosed misfire cyl 4 - hence new coil pack. The second time the fault codes read i replaced the MAF on the third read the codes were read and cleared 3 or 4 times over a 2 hour period whilst the car was misbehaving and each time they threw up a lots of different codes not just ignition based p0300 codes so the engine temp sensor at the back of the head was changed but as soon as its warmed up it misfires and turn her off and come back three hours later and she starts fine within 5 miles the misfires back just as the engine is warmed up When the event kicks in it is at its worst a heavy shuddering. Because power is also down the autobox is very confused on what to do but its just driveable. When running normally there are no problems with the autobox.
Before i commit to anything else i just wanted to get your suggestions, lambda probes, camshaft sensor, ecu, fuel rail
im lost :'(

Cam sensors are a known problem on the 2.2 petrol's
they do cause other codes to be shown, which dont exist.
Could be worth a try, and genuine from Vauxhall is the best bet.
Have you any recent codes to post up?
where are you based? someone with code reading / live data may be local and willing to help
-
Cheers for the reply im boston lincolnshire and i failed to note the last set of codes from the borrowed reader but i dont have access to it anymore but ive purchased an ebay special just so i can read the codes again.
Ive also just noticed today that my engine fault light doesnt come on at all even at the initial key to stage two ignition so i guess it got bored of being on and blew ::)

You have done the MAF and the Coil Pack so almost certainly the cam sensor, lets the car drive but not very well, I would bet that it runs well at high revs, our estate did, and I had changed both the coil pack and MAF first...... ::) ::)
-
You now what, when its up to speed of 50 plus and you put your foot down its not to bad of a misfire but slow and a confused box but sub 30 mph its an absolute dog and sounds like a diesel and the gearbox thinks its anything but a gearbox. cheers for the help so far im off after a cam sensor :y

Ok im waiting on a camshaft sensor coming in monday but my "My Naff Code Reader" diagnostic tool turned up today and with plenty of faf i managed to get my old xp laptop to run it as vista was having none of it and i started the car and i had allsorts of coil codes, temprature codes, camshaft sensor and some other rubbish so i cleared the faults and all i have at the moment is P0650 MI Malfunction indicator control circuit present fail open circuit. i
also the car is idling now with just the one fault code so im waiting for it to warm up and see what pops up whan the misfire kicks in.
-
Now i have p0352 coil 2 signal missing
p1700 SVS CAN present
-
The 0650 is self explanatory as the MI bulb has gone.
Need to get the Cam sensor swapped out to ensure it isn't causing other faults to appear.
FYI i had the exact same thing with cam sensor mine would run so bad it would stop then not fire. Had to get jump started several times.

the 1700 often pops up cos the cam sensor throws a gearbox code!
thats enough for me to suggest changing the cam sensor

Cheers everyone the cam sensor should be in with vauxhall Monday lunchtime so thats the priority job i did assume the MI fault code would be the bulb blew on the dash as its been on so much on this car :)
Cheers
Mark :y

well that didnt go well >:(
ive fitted the new sensor and still have the above faults but now i have throttle position and accelerator position faults and the the gear box has gone limp and reduced throttle present so the engines gone limp aswell. mmmmmmmmmmm not good
-
was it a genuine part? Did it just clip on like the original?
-
yes chap, genuine part so i rang vauxhall and they said they would order a new one in suspecting it might be faulty and i noticed some little markes on the plug area like it had been used and i told them this and the parts guy said it might be a parts transfer from another dealer that returned it to the main depot so might have been used for fault diagnosis or just a genuine faulty one. who knows but its another two day wait.
i changed back to the other sensor and my misfire was worse as ever but all the faults went except the original ones so i shall try again in two or three days time
:'(

well i fitted a geniune part from autovaux this time and it was £30 cheaper than vauxhall and low and behold the car is running like a kitten. ;D
Cheers for all your input guys it all well appreciated
