Title: Too Hot for Me

Hi guys need some advice on whats supposed 2 happen when the fans kick in. First off,shes a black 2000 face lift 30ltr man Mv6. :y ? are the fans supposed to come on Slow Speed around low 90s,because they dont >:( instead temp slowly climbs to uncomfortable 98,99 deg,then both fans come in at once and you would hardly discribe them as Turbo speed guys,but the temp then drops to 90 deg driving in slow traffic or 86 deg stationary and the whole painful process starts again.
Now recently attended 1st meet in Bucks and everything was Tech 2 all good,no codes ;). Radar did notice fans not coming in and did some multi meter Magic around the relays,he managed to kick those fans in full whack ! on test,suggested new Fan Switch as first port of call,duly purchased from Euro Farts,wrong part ;D, back again right part,changed today,battery out,some water drained,sensor out,finger in hole,new sensor in,top up with water only,fire up heater on full.. WORSE THAN EVER !  :o Miggy took a fair old time to start moving temp gauge,climbed slowly up to 90 deg,then 91,92 etc etc 98,99 100 where are the BLOODY fans ? 101 SHUTDOWN ! AS I DO the fans decide to wake up and come on for all of 10 secs then off :'( I let her cool down..
So old Sensor VX part appears to work better than new sensor Euro Farts part or is it because Ive weakened the Anti-Freeze summer coolant mixture,I have to admit Ive drained and topped up with water twice while fitting new sensor.. :-? Please Advise Im lost as what to do next Guys :y :y

 :D The miggys are well endowed with that many sensors it is dumbfounding most of the time to many of us so you are not alone.
All I can suggest is that you test/replace every sensor and relay that you can find in the cooling circuit and also check that all plug connectors are well seated. Many problems can be down to poor connections, especially if the problems are constantly changing their antics.
Tech2s do not always discover all problems either as I have found to my cost.
First thing to do is make certain that it is not airlocked anywhere and that the cooling system is working as it should with full unrestricted coolant circulation. Any blockages or restrictions will lead to overheating and if the coolant is not circulating as it should then the sensors will only sense the coolant in their immediate vicinity.
Best I can explain it for you, but its worth double checking everything from start to finish.

Thanks for the info Mate,Tbo im trying to sell the car,but I have nt a hope with temp its reading at moment. Looks like Im on a mission 2 replace every sensor connected 2 the heating circuit,as for Air locks you can toast bread in front of heater vents on high a setting.

I remember your car but it was Kevin Wood who was the diagnostic guru. Suggest PM him for extra advice?

Tech2 doesn't diagnose fans at all.

Its easy to prove if its the temp switch in the rad, as its a simple affair.  Check the wiring diagram :y - this will prove if its the rad switch, or a problem with the relays/fuses etc.
