Title: Changing Gearbox... Big Problems... HELP!!!
Post by: Psychoca on 08 July 2011, 16:43:43
I am in the process of changing the gearbox on my 2.5TD Manual (R25-D), with a gearbox supplied by Brikhead which is from a 2.5 V6 (R25-28)...

When I pulled the old gearbox off and started trying to fit the slave cylinder hose, I discovered that the housings are different...

The Question is, is there any way that I can get the gearbox fitted, or is it a complete no go???

Thanks...

I know on the auto you have to swap the bellhousings over since the TD engine has a different bolt pattern to the V6. Not sure if the same is true of a manual box of if it has an integral bellhousing and is thus incompatible.  :-/

Thanks Kevin....

Bugger...  The old one is well and truly knackered and certainly knackered...

I'll have a look at the housing tomorrow and see what I can do...

it is possible to do but difficult

basically, you need to swap the main gearbox casing over, which is a heaty-up jobby with clearances to set via selective shims for mainshaft and countershaft eld-float.

good luck
