Title: 2.2 waterpump and cambelt
Post by: Jukeboxnut on 09 July 2011, 11:52:28
I think that it is time to replace my cambelt and waterpump, the belt was replaced at 80,000 miles four years ago but not the pump according to the main dealer service history.  The car has now done 104,000 miles so 20,000 in 4 years but I can smell antifreeze when opening the bonnet after a long run so I suspect the pump is starting to leak.

My question is what is the recommended make of waterpump and belt to use?  I see FAI pumps on ebay for about £20 but am not sure if they are OEM quality  so any help would be appreciated.

http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/

Seem a decent outfit to buy parts from.

I would agree about BuyPartsBy in general, but it is worth asking them what brands you are going to get.

I bought from them a few weeks ago - got Contitech cam belt kit (good) but they told me I would be getting a Quinton Hzell water pump (good) but actually sent me a Comline (not so good).

From what I hear, Comline aren't too bad - one of the better far eastern pattern part suppliers.  Anyway, I didn't have time to faff around returning it and there was some play in my existing one so I fitted it with my fingers crossed.

Thanks for the advice chaps, I have seen that Vauxhall are offering 10% discount on cambelt kits and water pumps with Trade Card so I will give them a ring tomorrow to check prices first.
