Got a 3.0ltr V6 Elite and ive had an annoying oil leak but on closer inspection on the driveway at home it just felt and looked like water so i dismissed it as an oil leak.
Anyway on Friday afternoon i knew the problem was definately oil as its been staining the driveway so i decided to get the car jacked up and clean everything underneath to detect the problem and today i think i have come to the conclusion that one of the 2 ATF cooler pipes (the shorter one of the two from the gearbox) that bolt into the gearbox has a hairline fracture in it and it is leaking when the car is running, however it is not leaking when the car is stood still. (i am assuming this is because it runs under pressure)
I suppose this will now explain the almost watery looking oil on the drive.
Does anybody know where i can get hold of one of these pipes (I don't need the entire length of pipe i only need from the bolt on the gearbox to the first jubilee spring clip & hydraulic hose connection but i suspect these only come as a complete piece with both pipes and is it safe to drive the car with this very small leak or not.
What damage could i do.
MOT is due this week as well.

Send me a pm with your Email so I can send you a photo. I have one on the car I am breaking. Its a 2.5 but I am sure they are the same.
It is in Spain though so will take a few days to get to you. If you need it real fast then dealer or a UK breaker. Best to put an advert in the "wanted section" if that is the case. As you have less than the requisite 250 posts you will have to put it in the test zone and get a mod to move it for you.
As to damage? Well there are plenty of folk who drive around with auto fluid levels below what they should be as few know how to or that you need to check the level. Usually a top up using the correct process cures the issues that arise from low levels. You could check and top up with Dex 111 periodically till you get the replacement pipe.
The fluid needs changing every so often. say 70k miles less if thrashed or used to tow. There is a guide in the maintenance section.
