As above, the oil level sensor check warning keeps coming up on the MID...any ideas what might be causing it, every time it comes on i check the oil level and its on the max...

Is it happening all the time or just when the engine is hot ?
-
When the engine is hot, the majority of my driving is motorway... occasionally it will come on whilst travelling at non motorway speeds but the majority of the time it is when i've travelled about 5 or 6 miles on the motorway...

Similar problem with my V6.
When the engine gets hot, the oil thins out and the sensor can play up a little :(
Keep a eye on the dipstick oil level and the oil light on the dash :y
IMHO, as long as the oil presure light is not flickering or you are not using alot of oil, don't worry too much about it ;)
Sump of to change the sensor so nice and messy ;D ;D
Is the engine quite ? i.e. not tapping from the top or bottom end ?

The engine runs nice and smooth and quiet, no tapping noises at all... doesn't use any oil, and no sign of the oil pressure light flickering on the dashboard...
Dont fancy going down the route of taking the sump off either, especially as the sensor is apparently £60.75 from the stealers even on TC prices... :(

I know its not the same but had similar on my X25XE engined vec GSI , intermittant oil warning when cruising but oil level fine when checked :-? , did an oil change and it stopped it straight away , could possibly be down to dirty oil ?

Hopefully not, as the oil and filter get changed every 3-4k without fail... :y

When I replaced my sump I found that the insulation on wiring to the level sensor was pot hard and one of the soldered joints to the sensor broke very easily.
Your problem could just be along the same lines, oil gets hot and soldered joints become dodgy :-/ :-/ :-/

Used to get this regularly on my mini facelift when at motorway cruising speeds. The oil level was at the midway mark.
Top up to max level and the warning - should - disappear.... :y

get the sump off, it's an easy job and you'll be amazed how much crap you can clean out while it's off.
Personally wouldn't want to get used to seeing that type of message and risk not acting when there's a real issue.

Mine used to.....but then I changed the oil! You should be using only the genuine VX oil and if you are then you could always simply upgrade the genuine VX oil to a higher viscosity which would go a long way solving the hot oil thinning problem.
If you are not using VX oil then it is time you did considering how cheap it is. :y

Think i'll add that to my list of jobs for when i'm on annual leave then....

Only use the Vauxhall oil, especially at the price it is on trade club card... :y

Mine does this also, "check oil level" comes up when hot/after motorway driving and sometiomes when I stop. Oil is only 1 notch from max on dipstick, so far has cured when topped to max. Funny one, it should give the notice when less than half of oil...
