To be worth considering it would have to be a low mileage Elite with all the toys, low mileage impeccable service history etc.
Otherwise it cant be worth the effort of getting it put right imo. ;)

My DTi had the first signs of that corrosion, so I rubbed it down and coated with a couple of coats of rust convertor, then after a week to cure, a coat of Hammerite silver (a good match for Z157!).

It's my daily hack so wasn't fussed about it being a paint shop finish and to be honest, unless you look really closely it's not obvious. Certainly hasn't come back in the last 6 months.

Fortunately the V6 remains rust free in that area for now.

THats a lot of rot and money for the year!!!!!Tigers_gonads has it almost right.... just don't walk.....run like hell was after you  :o.
You could waste much much time by grinding the rot out then trying to treat the rust with a proprietory rust treatment converter then spend lots more on getting the arear back into shape, then the paint job right only to discover that it returns quite quickly anyway.
I have been down that road so many times and now would not waste my time even looking at a rotbox like that one. Its got too much rot in too many places.
There again its your money and time and you must do what you think is best for your time and pocket.  ;)

That's interesting. There has been quite a bit of talk about this car on the forum, with people saying it's up for a really good price since it's such a clean example!! Just goes to show how deceiving this ads can be!!  :(

For the record, absolutely no rust at all on the arches of my '53 plate elite!  :y

ooo, reg plate very close to mine - very likely a vauxhall mgt car or Hertz as first owner.

Mine has also gone in that area but no where near as bad as that.

For what its worth I think that is WAY too much money for an 80k rotbox.
