First question. Are cam cover gaskets the same as rocker cover gaskets or is the cam cover gasket something different? And are there any other gaskets i should be aware of?
Secondly, had what i was told was rocker cover gaskets replaced 4 weeks ago (Both sides) but ive still got oil running down the passenger side of the engine onto the manifolds and as it burns it blows through the vents when im stuck in traffic. (Nice, NOT..........) and then it drips off the bottom end of the gear box.
Ive tried to trace where its coming from but can't pinpoint it.
Would it be fair to say the rocker cover gaskets need doing again as i did recall my mechanic saying it was a bitch of a job as the gasket kept moving when he was putting it back on.

Did he use genuine Vauxhall Gaskets? And did he clean the breather system out? :-?
It could still be residual oil but it sounds like they're still leaking ;) :(

yes- same. tricky job if your mechanic has no V6 Vx experience

Hi
Might be an idea to put your location in your profile. I suspect you need to have another member have a look at your car and maybe even fix it properly.
Rocker covers is roughly the same as cam cover gaskets. The V6 engine is prone to blowing these gaskets, which must be replaced using VX parts and not cheap aftermarket stuff., if the engine breather get blocked with crud through use and/or poor oil or lack of oil changes etc. There is a how to in the maintenance guides.
It is no good changing the gaskets if the breathers haven't been cleaned out as they will go again. Maybe that is what has happened with yours.

Don't suppose theres anybody this far north is there that would be willing to take a look. Id even bring car to you as its driving me mad just now. Spent nearly £1000 on her in last 12 weeks. Just want to get her right as rain

hi.....i might be wrong but i used to have a v6 and both my gaskets went ....got them done in a garage but the passenger side one kept leaking, then i was told the rocker covers were made of plastic and that one was warped so i told the man change it..he said he did and it stoped leaking....whether they are or not maybe someone else can confirm or not :-/ :-/

They rarely warp, although if they have been seriously overtightened (past 8nm) then they might.
Sounds like it needs someone who knows what they are doing to do the job, with genuine gaskets.

Legendary OOF spanner-twirler Elite Pete did mine before I bought it with genuine gaskets. Hence no leaks. He's some distance from you though... :-/ :-/
