On a sunday?! Im a bit leaky and stranded in north london! I gather it doesnt involve the cambelt?
-
Got a used one in my shed which could get you out of trouble if your desperate. Dont suppose you could get a mate to nip up the M11 as far as Stansted in the morning ?
You might find one at a motor factors or Hellfrauds after 10am.
Youve got my number, so if your desperate for one, give me a ring. :y

You can change the water pump without removing the cambelt...in fact although its a little trickier accessing the 3 bolts holding it on you don't even need to remove the cambelt cover
-
Immodium usually does the trick

I'm sure that if you sit down with the local yellow pages you'll find a motor factors open. There are at least 2 around here that open on a Sunday.

If it's only "a bit leaky" I would get some screwtop containers of water and get myself to somewhere more favourable, topping-up as I go.

Not sure if this is any help mate?

I thought the water pump was driven by the cambelt, and that many cambelt failures are due to the water pump bearing failing :-/
-
V6 pump isnt cambelt driven.Failures are due to tensioner bearing/pulley collapsing. :y
-
v6 water pump is driven by serpentine belt not cam belt :y

Ah, forgive me for being such a div, but why do we change the water pump with the cambelt then, just because it is accessible at the time?
-
Most reckon that it is good practice to replace the V6 water pump everyother cambelt/tensioner replacement.
I doudt they are that prone to failure and would almost last 100k or more miles if proper coolant regime is followed but as access is some much better with belt and cover removed for the extra £30 or so it is just peace of mind.

You learn something new every day, thanks chaps :)

peace of mind :y

Cheers chaps, i only have phone access to searching so thanks so far.
Albs, thanks mate, but i think from here the dash to mine would be about the same. Appreciate the offer though :y
-
Changing the water pump at the same time is as said, peace of mind and convenience as the extra work involved to do the job is minimal when your doing the cambelt and the cost of the water pump isn't that great...
Also if the water pump starts to disintegrate and the fins get into the water system it can be a pain to get them out and probably as costly as doing the water pump...better safe than sorry

Cheers guys, found a new one at eurocarparts at wembley, went to Garage-D in watford to fit it (easy job to be honest) only to find it wasnt that at all, but the stupid pipe that goes under the cams to the thermostat. Waste of a weekend and £50 plus on parts and antifreeze. Gutted! >:( :( ::) :'(
