Title: Annoying little problem!
Post by: Crazycarzowner on 18 July 2011, 13:49:38
Hi guys,

Just got back home from hols  :'(

Whilst using my sat nav and plugging it into to cigarette lighter, I've either broken / unclipped or jammed something in the ashtray mechanism and it won't shut now  >:( >:(
Not a big problem I know, but its annoying me.

Anyone know how to get the ashtray mechanism out??? Is there a trick or do you have to take the radio / centre console bit out to get a look in??? I've had a quick fiddle whilst waiting to get on the ferry, but I can't see any clips broken I just push it in and it flys open again  :(

TIA

J

At rear of ashtray in the centre, 1 philips screw. Be aware that the illumination bulbholder is clipped in at the rear

As RobG says, 1 screw, then it slides out :)

Stopped raining, so I went to have another look. Got the screw out & 'Hey Presto' sorted! A little lug that stops the lighter socket had snapped off lodging itself into the mechanism, lighter socket a little wobbily but I can live with that. Removed offending item and now I'm a happy bunny, it shuts!  :)

common fault.  Lord knows what the facelift designers were smoking, as it really is a weak point.
